Answer
· How long have UniForce been in business?

UniForce has been in business since 1992, and obtained government PNET license as an ISP since October 1996. Our PNET license# is 259.

· What is a PNET license?

The Office of Telecommunication Authority (OFTA) of HKSAR requires every ISP to register and obtain the proper license to offer Internet services. This is to safeguard public's interest in using ISP services.

· What is UniForce's bandwidth to Internet?

UniForce operates multiple servers at different locations, mainly for bandwidth efficiency and fault tolerance (reduce single point of failure). Our key server clusters are in Los Angeles using Digex Internet backbone (multiple T3's), and in Hong Kong with IXTech making use of their 60Mbps ATM HKIX bandwidth. All servers are 24x7 managed.

· How long will it take to get the Megabyte Web service?

Normally 3 to 5 working days.

· Do I need to pay for the domain names?

Yes. You will need to pay HKD 200 to HKNIC for .hk domains, and USD 70 to NetworkSolutions in US for .com/.net/.org domains (for the 1st 2 years, and USD 35 per year subsequently). Domain names are registered under your names and owned by you. * UniForce will apply for you the domain names, and will NOT charge any service fee for that.

· Do I own my domain names?

Yes. Domain names that we help customers to register are always owned by customers. This is important to ensure that customers can move from one ISP to another easily.

· If we already registered for a domain name, can we use your service?

Yes, of course. Just let us know your domain name and we will move the domain name for you. There is no charge for that. However, you might need to authenticate yourself as the owner of the domain with a company letterhead.

· Do you support ODBC, ASP, etc?

No. UniForce does not support Microsoft NT based services including ODBC, Active Server Pages (ASP) and DLL's. We only support PC Unix based servers (such as Linux), Apache web servers, Apache SSL security servers, Perl CGI, MSQL database, and Java. We, however, support FrontPage 98 Server Extension on our Linux Apache servers, so that you can use Microsoft FrontPage 98 to publish pages as well as using the FrontPage active components.

· Do you support Secure Socket Layer sevices?

Yes, our SSL server is at ssl3.uniforce.net. We use Thawte digital certificate and Apache-SSL server software to implement our 128bit SSL server. UniForce customers can readily make use of our SSL server for 128 bit secure electronic commerce services.

· What is your support method and support hours?

UniForce provide a support hotline and unlimited email support service. However, we cannot guarantee a given response time and a voice response due to limited resources. From the past statistics, we follow up within hours of the request.

· How about backup and contingency measures?

Our servers are bi-level backed up: first to a mirror disk, and secondly to an off-line storage. In addition, our servers are all configured to backup each other so that in case one server is down, another server can standby the failed servers until that server is up again. Users will notice slight service disruption in that case. We hope to achieve total transparency in the coming future.

· Are the 50 POP3 email accounts real POP3 accounts?

Yes. They are real POP3 email mailboxes. Users of course can choose to forward emails to other email addresses, or to create mailing lists. For example, users might ask for a virtual email address of sales@company.com and have that address aliased to a list of other email addresses.

· What is the storage limit for the 50 POP3 email accounts?

The POP3 storages are combined into the 100 MB Megabyte web hosting plan. We, however, allow momentarily excess of POP3 storage over the 100MB limit provided users download the emails frequently enough.

· Any additional charges for creating/deleting/modifying email accounts?

All service charge are included in the monthly charge of Megabyte Web Hosting plan. That is, HK$180 for 1-year prepay; HK$270 for 6-month prepay; and HK$300 for 3-month prepay. There is absolutely no hidden cost.

· What if we need more than 50 email accounts and storage larger than 100 MBytes?

UniForce seldom have customers who use more than that limit. However, should that need arise, we would quote on an individual basis.

· Do you offer telnet accounts?

No. UniForce restrict telnet activities for security purposes. Users can change their password by telneting into our servers, but that is about all they can do.

· Do you offer dial-up Internet access service?

No. UniForce believe there are better dial-up ISPs out there who can provide you with cost effective dial-up service plans. Any dial-up ISP you use, local or foreign, can access our services. We, however, offer fixed line Internet access service should you need that.
